Urban Prisoners of War was formed in Winter of 2017. It rose from a process called the “Passages”, which aims to reform young men from war stricken areas of Chicago’s south side and teach them meditation, healing and overall life experiences in order to be better suited from the world. From this, the talents of a few energized the crowd, and UPOW music group began.
High energy and authentic lyricism powered this group. Performances in Iowa, Las Vegas, as well as many in Chicago are crowds in and in inspired people by the music that UPOW was performing. Heartfelt music that comes from the soul, music that is the voice of the streets.
UPOW consists of 4 members, each one unique int heir talents and their energy. Separate, they are great, but together, they are complete, UPOW has performed many non profit events as well as their music embodies positivity and healing. These young men do yoga and meditation every week and it has heavily influenced their music.
